Forcing \textwidth tables in LaTeX

When adding tables in LaTeX\LaTeX, sometimes it is annoying to adjust the size of various tables, especially so when two tables are back to back but don't have the same width.

I prefer to address this issue by forcing all tables to have \textwidth, regardless of their contents. A neat way to accomplish this is noted here by making use of the tabular* environment.

In the same StackExchange answer, I also learned it is possible to include multiple tabular's (or subtable) in a single table environment, which is quite convenient.
